108 Surya Namaskara Sadhana – A Monthly Dynamic Meditation

Surya Sadhana 108 is a monthly Surya Namaskara Marathon led by Acharya Bharat Shetty, practiced every single month since 1998. In this 90-minute session, participants complete up to 108 Sun Salutations together, moving in unison under his expert guidance. Practitioners join both in person at our Mysore shala and live online from around the world, creating a shared, powerful energy no matter where you are.

Surya Sadhana is a powerful monthly yoga practice designed to align body, breath, and mind through the ancient ritual of 108 Surya Namaskars (Sun Salutations). Open to practitioners of all levels above 12 years of age, this immersive session invites you to experience yoga as a moving meditation, cultivating strength, focus, and inner clarity.

Whether you complete all 108 rounds or begin with 30, Surya Sadhana is more than just a physical challenge—it is a deeply intentional journey that honors the Sun within, the life force, and your personal commitment to growth and transformation. Rooted in yoga tradition, this practice weaves together asana, pranayama, bandhas, and mudras, offering a complete and holistic yogic experience that strengthens the body, steadies the mind, and uplifts the spirit.

If you’re new to yoga or wish to build your practice gradually, our Surya Sadhakas Program offers a four-week preparatory journey with daily 20-minute guided video sessions. These practices emphasize correct alignment, breath awareness, and the harmonious coordination of body, mind, and breath, laying a strong foundation for a lifelong yoga journey.

On the day of the Surya Sadhana Marathon, you step into a shared energy field of dedication, focus, and movement. Whether you complete all 108 rounds or go at your own pace, you are part of a living tradition.

  • Multiple ways to join – Practise at the Shala or participate online

Build Your Practice

For those new to Surya Namaskar or returning after a break, preparing in advance ensures you can participate with confidence. Begin with our guided 20-minute practice video, done 6 days a week, to gradually develop stamina, rhythm, and breath awareness. This steady foundation will help you move towards completing 108 rounds on the day of the marathon.

Preparation Steps:

Surya Sadhana with Purpose

Every month, hundreds join Surya Sadhana at Bharatha Yoga Shala. 108 Surya Namaskaras done together. This practice is donation-based, starting at just ₹199, and every contribution goes directly toward sponsoring children’s education through book kits, through the Bharatha Foundation. The foundation works to uplift underprivileged children by providing learning resources and opportunities for a brighter future.
