Arogyam’s Approach — Designed for Real Life

Arogyam is not just another yoga program. It’s a carefully crafted response to the demands of contemporary bodies and minds alike. Developed by Acharya Bharath of Mysore Bharatha Yoga Shala, Arogyam blends the timeless principles of yoga with therapeutic clarity. The primary objective of the program is to help people find balance. Not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually as well. Whether you’re a beginner or returning to the mat after a long break, Arogyam meets you where you are.

The structure is simple, intuitive, and deeply effective. It begins with foundational movements that are easy on the body but powerful in their impact. Through breath, alignment, and presence, the program gradually deepens awareness and builds strength in the muscles, the mind and the nervous system.

Built on the Principles of Yoga Chikitsa

Arogyam is based on a traditional yogic framework known as Yoga Chikitsa (yoga therapy). At the foundation of our practice through the lens of Yoga Chikitsa, we do not consider the body and mind to be independent from one another. Specifically, we do not see the body and mind as separate. They are interdependent, and healing happens when both the body and mind are in balance and harmony with each other. Furthermore, Yoga Chikitsa recognises that we must address the underlying causes of discomfort or pain, not just the immediate symptoms. This path to healing begins with easy movements and conscious breathing. Permitting oneself to explore the inner environment promotes self-healing and self-awareness when the practitioner comes into a better understanding of the nuances of the inner landscape.

Arogyam is a mild, non-intrusive, holistic practice that leads each participant towards greater fortitude, resilience and clarity. It is almost an antithesis to the dominant forms of yoga that promote physicality, dynamic movement, and fitness. Arogyam is a form of Yoga Chikitsa but it gives this essence a context, and framework that is user-friendly, progressive and mindful.

How Yoga Helps Overcome Modern Health Issues

We usually consider yoga to be one form of physical exercise. However, yoga’s ultimate power is in building a healthy nervous system and calming and clearing the mind. Stress, anxiety, sleep issues, misalignment of hormones, and other stress-related illnesses are on the rise in our world today. Most of these consequences are developed out of the body becoming disconnected from the breath, from the rhythms of life and from the physical body itself.

This is where yoga can provide a pathway using movement, breath, and stillness. Yoga resets the nervous system and pacifies chronic stress. It aids in circulation, digestion, sleep and the regulation of emotions. Many of the participants share they come for the physical relief of symptoms, but as they continue to practice, they have found a renewed sense of calm, focus, and emotional balance.

Healing the Mind First — Where the Problem Truly Begins

We often treat health problems at the physical level — but more often, the root lies deeper. Modern science now confirms what yogis have always known: our mindset and emotions have a direct impact on our health. Stress, anxiety, fear, and unresolved emotions affect everything — from digestion to immunity.

Arogyam recognises that healing must include the mind. Every practice is designed to settle the inner chatter, regulate our emotional patterning, and return focus to the present moment. When practitioners stop and begin to consciously breathe and intentionally move the body, there is a change – not just in how the body feels in their practice, but in how the mind engages in the practice. It is not a superficial change. It’s a deep, sustained transformation.

The Method Behind the Movement — What Makes Bharatha Yoga Unique

Acharya Bharat’s method is traditional and yet modern. Each practice in Arogyam has been created for our modern lifestyle — high stress, low mobility and short attention spans. The foundation is classical, with the therapeutic application of Bharatha Yoga still achievable.

Each session begins with sukshma vyayama, which are subtle movements of the joints that awaken circulation and loosen the body. This is followed by standing breathing practices that deepen the breath and connect the mind to the body. From here we gently transition into dynamic standing stretches for working in all four planes of movement, flexion and extension or forwards and backwards, lateral movement and gentle twisting. After we have opened the joints, the practice moves to supine and prone poses that release and eliminate minor neuromuscular tension, which supports the relaxation of the entire body.

The sequencing is gentle, intelligent and accessible. The practice builds strength without strain, flexibility without force, and awareness without pressure. Each pose, & breath is an opportunity to return to yourself.

What People Are Saying — From India to the World

The strength of any practice lies in its impact — and Arogyam speaks for itself through the experiences of its participants.

Dove Crawford from Arizona shares:
“The experience of Arogyam is different each time because I changed, and it’s different each time I return. If you want to really see what’s possible in your growth, your learning, your healing, or your happiness—take the time away and commit to the process. You will not regret it.”

Helen Cassidy reflects:
“The Arogyam program gave me the opportunity to experience a daily holistic practice in a warm, knowledgeable, attentive, and authentic setting… Yoga Indea feels genuine and can provide an opportunity for growth, healing and strength: mind, body, spirit.”

These voices aren’t unusual. They are reflections of what’s possible when we slow down, listen, and breathe with intention.

Coming Home to Health

More than a wellness routine, Arogyam is a process of returning to balance, simplicity, and self-awareness. As the world and culture continually pull us outward, this program introduces us, gently inward. Building on its original context in classical yoga chikitsa while honouring contemporary issues, Arogyam creates a safe and constant space in which to begin reconstructing your health: physically, mentally and emotionally. Whether you are starting or returning to practice, Arogyam is going to provide a purposeful, supportive and truly life-enhancing path. The breath will steer the way, the body will be your ally, and every moment spent in the practice will take you closer to wholeness.
